Internet not working on vostro laptop windows 7

When trying to access the internet on my laptop, it shows that I have internet but when clicking internet explorer it stays in a frozen white stage with the words " your last browsing session closed unexpectedly." Is this due to a virus or something else because the shortcut to itunes works fine. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Mahalo

Do you have another browser installed so you can see if you actually have an Internet connection?

You may be dealing with an Internet Explorer problem. What happens if you try loading IE with add-ons disabled?
