A prop for the next Get Smart sequel? I can just imagine agent 99 whipping this out as a computer device disguised as an oversized compact.

LOL Gayness shxt ~ but well, you still able to put on Ebay, some apple fanboy will bit that for 10Gs ~ LOL

FUN FUN FUN

Pretty funny. This is something that people do for fun, don't take this sort of stuff too seriously. I doubt the get set out to turn the iPad into a notebook of sorts. I once turned a lawnmower engine into a functional go-kart but it didn't mean I wanted to use it as a mode of transportation. It was just something fun to do.

I'd still rather have an iPad than any non-ION powered netbook.

Okay so you have people making tablets out of their netbooks. Which I though would make for a good device for keeping the kids busy in the car. But now you have an apple guy trying to turn the ipad into a netbook. I dont know how to react.

Doesn't close?

I think a keyboard/hinge/frame combination would be a good accessory, if it was designed correctly. If someone wants one, just slide the fruitpad into it, close it and go. If you don't want the keyboard, slide the thing back out of it and put the keyboard away.

The thing in this article isn't quite there yet.

[citation][nom]sliem[/nom]Looks like a $40 kid's laptop. One that makes ding dong when you press a button.[/citation]

A laptop that magically sprouts a penis at the press of a button does sound intriguing though...

Now I guess I can relate.

Not for kids i hope. err iHope?

So a piece of crap iFad is modded into a toilet-seat iBook.
Thats more appropriate than most people will ever know.
All it needs now is an iPood dock and it would be complete.

I've said it once before and I'll say it again, the iphad is a completely useless device. It's too big for portability unless you are prepared to hunk it around underarm all day,and its to incompatible as an alternative to a netbook.
What I find really surprising is the gulability of the human race to fall for aggressive marketing and buy such a gadget.
Just goes to show that loud words speak volumes.

ah even a harmless fun exercise in futility seems to get up the noses of the anti ipad crowd. Damn it people are buying and enjoying a product that I'm not into!!! Oh no!!! One of us must be wrong! It can't be me, so it must be them!!!!

My mother in law thinks computers are useless and a waste of time YET millions of people still have them and use them.... maybe my mother in law should get onto forums and have a whinge? No..... that would be an exercise in futility :)

Well I think the old clamshell mac book would be more appealing to me than the ipad. I work in IT and have many people at work asking to use Ipads and I have one just to show them that it doesn't do what they want it to do. It is so rewarding seeing the faces of people who think they know about technology when they find out their Motorola phone is more capable. I had a user completely change her mind and buy a very nice HP ion netbook. I'm so proud of her. 😉
