Is it bad I miss chipset updates?

Last night I put together a new machine which included a new, modern motherboard and Windows 8. I was actually saddened there was no chipset driver that needed installed to discover all the motherboard devices. I miss those esoteric days and watching Windows rejoice at "new device found." It was almost like you were unlocking the secrets of the universe.

Does anyone else feel the same?

I take it that everything checks out in device manager as well. No exclamation points on anything?

Nope. It's been my experience that since Win 7 and now 8 the OS pretty well has at least a default driver for everything.

The windows native driver isn't always the best one to use. Newer drivers usually exist by the time the OS is released.

Hawkeye22 makes an excellent point. You might want to consider looking at the newer drivers.
