is sandisk memory chips comtabile will all digital cameras including sony or do i have to use Sony magic gate for a sony camera

Sony's handbook for your camera will tell you that you need Sony brand memory cards. But in my opinion, anything that fits will work. IF you want performance, go with major brands like SanDisk. Only exception here is if your camera use MemoryStick type chips (or MemoryStickPro) rather than SD cards.
