I have a 6 year old Asus K55VJ which I recently cleaned and formatted. Before, idle temperatures were at 80 degrees. Now that my laptop is clean, is having 65 degrees idle temperature normal?

Depending on how long it is on (if you don't turn it off regularly) that isn't a bad temp.

I am going to assume you mean cleaned as in the software. What you may want to do (if not done) is open it up and clean out and dust and debris from the inside. That will lower temps. should that not do enough, then look into replacing the thermal paste and make sure the fan(s) are not in need of replacing.

However, unless the temps when in use are really high, I would not worry about it. Monitor those temps and see.
