is it not smart to get an older smartphone?? help me pick a phone??

Hello, I'm looking to get a new phone. I don't really know anything about smartphones. I don't want to spend all kinds of money (looking to spend $200 or less) I was looking at Samsung galaxy s4, but is it stupid to buy older phones?? someone mentioned the Honor 5x?? I just want something that will still work in a few years?? Help?

S4 is a good phone, just make sure you get a clean unit. Should last for a while.
