Is it possible/practical to connect my Sony Dvd/blue ray player to wifi? it says to use a LAN cable but my wifi router is 3 fe

if the router (with lan ports) is 3ft away just use a lan cable.
Without youproviding the model # of the equipment we dont even know if router has lan ports or if the sony has wifi...
