is it safe to mix my 4gb onboard ram with another 4gb but in different brand?

my asus x455yi has 4gb onboard and one free slot, i want to add another 4 gb ram so it run on dual channel state (if it could handle it). but i dont know the brand of this onboard ram, but i knew some of it specs from some aplication such as cpu-z ,dxdiag and speccy. is it safe to mix it with random brand?

Mixing memory is hit and miss , it might boot it might not. Even identical modules purchased at separate times can be incompatible.

so.. it doesn't matter, whether it is identical or not. it still hard to make it booted? im afraid there's a catch when im doin' it, idk perhaps some malfunction or some damage to my laptop~ so is there any ways to upgrade ram on my onboard laptop safely.?
