Is ps3 compatible with samsung 2008 plasma tv

There is just one hdmi port but when we make the connection there is black screen that says regime not found. Do I need to ajust some settings manualy or are they just not compatible? Model of tv is Samsung PS-42C62H type no. LI42C6

Have you tried resetting the PS3? Sometimes it doesn't know to use the HDMI port otherwise, or if you used the HDMI port previously, it might be trying to operate at a bad resolution or refresh rate. Either way, resetting the PS3 should fix it unless they just absolutely refuse to communicate.

I would like to avoid reseting ps3. Its borrowed from a freind and it has bunch of games downloaded to it. On other newer tv it works perfectly though hdmi port.

The reset I am referring to does not involve wiping the HDD. It just resets the video.
