Is there any type of free app i can download to my andriod phone so that im able to track my husbands location just by calling or texting him without anything needing to be installed on his phone too?

no. he will have to install something.

If you are calling or texting him, why not just ask where he is then? The device location is seen on Google Maps also if you are signed in and have the phones linked to your account (unless location tracking is off on the phone).
