Do you mean using a second adapter connecting to a separate network? Yea you can, but you could end up with issues since programs may not use the right adapter that you think they should use.

Yes you can. You just need to be sure you select the wifi adapter you want to use in the network control panel. For instance, I have an older laptop that only operates on the 2.4Ghz wifi band. I plug in a usb wifi ac adapter so that I can connect to the 5Ghz wifi band.
