Is there any way to make sure a used laptop has no malware?

I just bought a used laptop which comes with Windows 10 freshly installed. Was planning to boot from a Windows 10 USB, format the drive, reinstall Windows, download the necessary drivers, etc.

Is there an easier way to be sure the laptop is clean?
