Is this how a normal HDD sounds like? (Sound included)

My HDD makes a constant static noise that sounds like this http/www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4w7e_mp3uM (listen very closely)

The noise is very soft. It sort of sounds like if I had put a CD in the laptop and the computer was reading it. It is a strange scratchy sound. I just bought this laptop and I hope that the noise is normal but if its a defect, I'll simply return it.

sounds like during shipping to the store someone dropped the laptop. you should not hear a drive unless it going bad or your putting your ear right to it.

Hard drives do make a soft hum when they're spinning as well as audible clicks when the actuator arms swing back and forth but there should be no scratching sounds like that. I'd recommend getting the laptop replaced ASAP
