I have been shopping for a new laptop and had recently considered the new Dell XPS 13 with it's amazing 'infinity display'. However, I then had the chance to try out a Thinkpad and realised how great the keyboards were. The problem is, the Thinkpad X1 Carbon is really expensive in the UK (£1200 as compared to $1200 in the US, ignoring the deal currently available on the US store). So instead I turned to eBay. I managed to grab a used last gen ThinkPad X1 Carbon for £650 with a Core i5 chip, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD and Matte 1600x900 IPS display.
It comes with warranty until 2017, so assuming it's all in good working order when it arrives, was this a good deal or should I return it? I am aware the 2014 Thinkpad had some niggles like mediocre battery life and lack of physical buttons on the trackpad. However, I simply can't afford £1700 for a comparably specced new 2015 Thinkpad. For the price I paid, do you think this was a good compromise?
