Is this SSD plug-and-play?

Hello,

I want to upgrade my laptop from an hdd wd blue 5400rpm to a Crucial MX500 256gb for basic word and some other applications thats it. I wanted to make sure that once I get it I will only plug it and start it with no issues. So is it all good?

One last thing: is the mx500 a good choice for an ssd?

You should be fine to install your OS on it and run. Also, yes the mx500 is fine.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily the most logical ssd to buy. It is a well reviewed ssd and should perform up to its intended standards.

You just have to decide what matters most to you in an SSD. For me, I like Samsung the most simply because I have tried other brands but I've had the absolute least amount of trouble with their ssds.

If you decide you want to go Samsung, you're going to pay a premium though. They are pricier than most other brands.

Here's the Samsung, and as you can see, it's $10 more expensive than the one you linked. To me, that $10 is worth it.

Independent reviews for the MX500 show it to be an equal of the equivalent Samsung, the 850 or 860.
