Is windows defender good enough?

I was wondering how much can I trust on windows defender (w10). I know that the best protection you can get is from yourself, knowing what kind of stuff are you downloading etc.

I got 8GB more a week ago (G.Skill and i5-4690k) and as far as I know, AV only uses RAM and CPU, so I would like to use a reliable and free AV if possible, sometimes I'm very paranoid. I'm not sure if Windows Defender is good enough, I was thinking to use Comodo but I read that it is really hard to use, and I didn't had very good experiences with Norton, maybe Panda Cloud?

What do you guys think about windows defender or other free possibilities?

Windows Defender is good enough and it is continuously updated.

I would suggest installing Malwarebytes Free version along with it to be sure.

Panda has a free version that gets decent reviews ( I use it) and I compliment it with Malwarebytes free version.

No. Leave windows firewall running. Firewall allows connections / info to pass (or not) through a network or computer. AV looks for exploits of a normal program to run malware or virus.
