[citation][nom]mackinator[/nom]ok the first 2 i have problems with, you can play with people from different countries, they do it by zones(unless im mistaken).[/citation]
You are mistaken. Zones can't connect. Europe CANNOT play North America. There is no way for a Europe-zoned copy and a North American copy to enter a custom game, even if they fly to the other country and sit next to the guy.
My WC3 team cannot become a SC2 team since some of us live in different zones.

[citation]Also, this is due to lag issues and im glad i wont have a bunch of people lagging up my game from brazil or germany or whereverand if the net is down, thats not drm causing the issue, you cant play without internet thats how the internet works[/citation]

I'm not talking about playing Random Team or other public games. I'm talking about playing with the guy on your train or in your house via cable or whatever. This is how you play non DRM games (eg SC1) without the Internet.

WC3 has zones. If you play with BNet you only play vs people in your zone. However, you can switch zones in WC3 to play with friends, or just connect to their IP via LAN. This is how it should be done. And there's no added lag in RT or public custom games.

None of these problems exist for technical reasons or because it would take effort to fix them. All of these negative effects are intentional, they have been actively added - it has taken effort, coding time, to deliberately make these things worse for players.
These also do not give any advantages such as reduced latency due to locality - WC3 zones already had this.

Great, I didn't brought my SF4 games with me while at the other side of the country for work purpose. I cracked it to play with it. Fine to know that I will not be sued for cracking a game I own with a serial key...

Can I say that this is awesome? I am not so sure about it until all those annoying DRMs are gone from my legally owned games.

I should modify my last post a bit - Blizzard has said they will probably add the ability to play cross-realm in a later patch (although I can't find any hint as to whether this is closer to days or decades).

[citation][nom]buddhav1[/nom]Score one for Legit players. Thanks for holding us back, pirates.[/citation]
The reason your statement is stupid is because this happens with everything, from cars to banks to games and movies. Your car had to be fitted with an alarm because of thieves, the banks spend an outrageous amount of money on security all because of thieves so it is foolish to assume there would not be any thieves in the video-game business.

[citation][nom]aznguy0028[/nom]woo awesome.....today is a good day!... (to die) [starcraft pun][/citation]

Uh... Little Big Man huote, actually. I think that the book appeared before Starcraft by several decades. So, is Starcraft guilty of a little plagarism?

I can trump that, Tasunka Witko (aka Crazy Horse) from the Lakota tribe said "Hóka-héy, today is a good day to die!".
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/today_is_a_good_day_to_die
Wiktionary said he was Sioux, but Wikipedia says Lakota.
Assuming he said it before he died (well DUH!) this would be before 1877.

[citation][nom]tomc5[/nom]Not sure I agree at all. If you have the legal software how are you 'punished'?[/citation]
Limiting or eliminating the re-sell rights of people who legally bought software is a form of punishment. DRM makes it far easier to prevent re-sales.

Agree 100%.DRM isn't to punish legal owners of software, it's there to 'stop' piraters.

DRM isn't nearly so altruistic. It punishes legal owners by:
1) Not allowing them to, which is perfectly legal, sell the SW once they are finished with it.
2) Making them buy another copy of the SW if they get a new computer.
3) Making them buy multiple copies of the SW if the user needs to work on multiple platforms, even though he only uses one installed copy at any given time.
4) Forcing you to buy another copy if you made to one-too-many hardware changes to your pre-assembled computer, such that the SW company feels it is no longer entitled to be running the OEM SW that you purchased with the machine.
5) Making you but another SW copy if the disc got a micro-scratch in the wrong place and is otherwise repairable by any good burning software.

[citation][nom]wydileie[/nom]Does #1 now mean people can post clips on Youtube without infringing on DMCA? They are non-commercial videos.[/citation]

Kinda. You can show a clip, but only to eximplify something, or comment on it.

So post the Youtube clip, then make a comment on it.
Job done?

Seems to me like everyone is getting overly excited about the scope of these exceptions. As I read it, the first part grants an exception for bypassing DRM to use short clips of video but seems to leave in place punishment for ripping an entire DVD to say either Keep a backup copy or play it on a mp3 player. It is nice that they said you really do own your iPhone and can do what you want with it. But the exception of breaking a games DRM was very specific in it's intention to protect security researchers and not us poor souls that have run up against an install limit.

The only thing missing is Windows

Think about all the poor people who bout compaq, dell, hp, computers and did not get any reinstall cd. When they have problems they cannot reinstall windows with oem because the key did not work....

What a rip off
