Jack Thompson Sues Facebook for $120 Million

What's put out about Jack Thomson makes it so easy to jump down the man's throat. Be that as it may he was invited to a debate about video game violence recently, the results are almost the opposite of what ive read and heard about the man.Amazingly enough all he wanted to do was keep Adult games out of the hands of minors.A link to the abridged version of the debate is below.

I bet this is pretty strait forward, facebook most likely has a posted method to communicate these issues to them via email or a form on their site. If Jack was sending Faxes to the CEO, he was not following the procedure printed by the company, in which they can ignore it.

Also, who here things its funny that he indirectly compares himself to the president of the united states ... i mean since its a federal crime to say you want to kill a president, its not a federal crime to say you want to smack Fred off the head with an Atari 2600.

I'm not a fan of Grant Theft Auto, but I'm even less of a fan of "ambulance chasers". Does he even HAVE a child in the age range to "protect"? Not likely.
Parents should be taking responsibility for the games that their children play. But most parents cave in far too easily to their kids. Society and laws are there to HELP you raise your kids, not to allow you to abdicate your responsibilities.

Yes, yes, yes... we have something known as the First Ammendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, which they apparently didn't teach in law school. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..." We do have laws that prohibit inciting a riot (such as yelling "Theater!" in a crowded fire...) but I highly doubt this could in ANY SENSE be construed thus in a court of LAW. Speculation is just that.

IF Jack Thompson gets smacked with a 2600 by some loon who wants to WASTE such a classic on him, well, THEN he can TRY to sue Facebook. That's pretty much how the law sits as I understand it.

Generally (and also specifically), as it is part of my regular job, I try to ignore or disparage muckraking parasites whenever possible. One former leader said something like - Speak softly and carry a big stick - usually much more effective than mouthing off to the world at large. Probably not a (dare I say it) "politically correct" thing to say - but oh, he wasn't President yet when he said it the first time - so that's ok. Unfortunately, it is no longer considered proper to carry a big stick, so I just speak bluntly and don't care what anybody thinks of me. It's not really my business anyway what anyone thinks of me, and if I'm such a low life that what someone else thinks of me is really defamation of character, then perhaps it is time that I look in the mirror and not elsewhere . . .
