i like it how they mention .MOV files like its something new and revolutionary..... though really, who still uses .mov's?

I really like this over priced stuff. Blu Ray burner for PC = $160-$190 now? and I can record any format I want.

Another market that is mucked up is car stero's. Can you believe that manufactures try and justify $600- $900 for a head unit that will play DVD's for your car.

I am thinking a blu ray player for the car in the head unit for $395 Max.

Surprised there are none, even at the $900 level

And the extra $500 in price to double the HD size? A 250GB HD is about $40. A 500GB HD is $60 and $85~90 gets you 1TB.

Lame rip off... and with BDs holding upto 50GB... a 250GB HD is tiny for mastering.

$250~400 in a BD-R drive + Tuner with A/V inputs added to a $500 PC is a far better deal.

So... can I wake up from this terrible nightmare I've been having about Sony's (laughable) BluRay format winning the format war, and find that the obvious choice HD-DVD has indeed won?

For $2,550 I could buy a PC that would play all the Blu-Ray and Crysis on max.So this is just for the guy that has no idea what to do with the money.

I think the manufacturers are completely missing their market. The sub $500 price range is what they need to be aiming for. And at a $2000 price point you'd think they could manage to drop in a ATSC/QAM tuner, or a cablecard slot?? For half that cost a HTPC would have 100 times the functionality. If they can't get these devices down to a reasonable cost, they ought to just be releasing a nice commercial HTPC instead of a crippled standalone device
