Kingston HyperX Cloud sound working but mic isn't

I attached my headset to the control box and the control box to the splitter (laptop only has 1 3.5mm jack) and plugged it in. I went into recording devices and enabled the microphone (it was called stereo mix) but it's not picking up any sound.

may be you're using wrong type of splitter?,

It needs to have 3 black bars on the jack-plug pin - - like this one:

Or if it's the correct splitter, it could be the control box, so try the splitter and headset without it to test that theory.
