L305-S5921 Toshiba Satellite freezes

The laptop in the title will run for a little while and then the screen will turn grey(or similar color, I am color blind) and freeze like that until I manually reboot.

I have replaced the hard drive already (the problem existed with both)
I have also completely cleaned out all the gunk, any blockage of the air flow and replaced the thermal paste (problem is the same before and after this)
And it cant be software related because, along with the new hard drive install, I've also gone through trying out Linux Mint and then went back to Windows 7 and the problem has persisted through all of this.

I am thinking there is a faulty ram stick. Do you have 2 ram sticks? If so, try removeing one and just operating off of one ram stick and see if the problem persists, if it does try using the other RAM stick and see if the problem still persists.
