So, what does those settings
1) Charge battery upto 80%
2) Charge battery upto 50% in the power management program do?

My guess is it stops charging the battery once it gets to a certain point. IIRC, Lithium batteries like about a 50% charge for long-term storage.

If the battery was already fully charged, it might run the laptop off the battery until it got down to that point.

So, always charging upto 80% and then discharging down to 25% and then charging upto 80% again - repeating this three times a day affect my battery?

Yes - the life of a battery is determined by the number of cycles you run it through.

Probably better than charging it to 100%, though.

It's quite hard to find concrete info on batteries; too much of it is shrouded in trade secrets. Which leads to lots of FUD.

One more doubt. After hitting 80%, the power "by-passes the battery" directly to the components (like when it normally reaches 100%), right?
