laptop dead BGA problem

I'm using Lenovo G580 laptop purchased before 2 years. I pluged in the power adapter and press on the power button, but the computer doesn't reacted. It’s dead and the power and battery charge LED doesn't light up. I checked the charger and it is working. I take it to the service centre and they said that power IC may be damaged and now they are saying that BGA chip is damaged and is short. Is this the real problem?

does that laptop's screen have an inverte had a short in itr board attached to it as I have an acer laptop whose screen's inverter had a short in it & did the same as yours?
