Need help deciding between a few laptops! For background information I am going to college and would like a laptop but also something I can game on a little bit. This is the best community I could think of to help.
The two choices are an HP Omen 17” with the following specs ($1,179$)
I7- 7770HQ
GTX 1060
12gb DDR4 SD Ram
1TB HD

Or MSI GF62 which is 15”
($1,099)
I7-7770HQ
GTX 1050 ti
16gb DDR4 2400
1TB HD

I am not sure if I would like the upgrade from the Ti to the 1060
But sacrifice 4GB in ram. That mixed with some friends saying HP is not as good as MSI is making this decision hard. Would appreciate any help. Any further recommendations beyond these two within that price range would be okay aswell.

The usual ram for gaming is at 8 gb, and since you have 12+ gigs, that should be all set. Anyways, a 4 gig difference in ram isn't going to be too noticeable, unless you are a HEAVY multitasker. I'd go with the Omen. More pros (screen size, better gpu) than cons (less ram vs other option)

I like the Omen's specs personally. The 1060 is a good bit more powerful than the 1050ti. I hardly ever use all 16 GB of my RAM - over 8 is sufficient IMO, and 12 seems like more than enough for keeping web browsers and other things open while gaming.
