I have an Asus k53e with Windows 7 x64.

I have tried the regedit then delete upper and lower but upper and lower was not in the regedit so could not do that.

I have updated bios.

There is nothing in the bios that says cd, dvd, optical drive etc..

Not on the boot menu upon startup, hdd is the only choice.

I tried a tested/working dvd rom and still not found, no lights. Just dead.

Sorry didn't mean to select the last response as the best answer.

But yes I done that plenty of times. I even swapped the drives but still the same result. I removed the palmrest then connected the drive to make sure it was actually connecting. Same result.

I am having Dell 14z N411z laptop. My laptop has been fallen down from table. Now it showing following problems..

1. It doesn't get power
2. If I push the button it gets power for a while but again lost
3. If I insert DVD it can't read. Again it can read for few seconds if I keep the tray pushed.

I don't know why it happens. I have opened the DVD Drive, opened the casing checked the connections but apparently it seems nothing broken or no loose connection. Can anyone please help me???
