For what laptop? All of them? Going to be a BIG PDF.

There don't make service manuals for DVD-Drives. They just don't. If it doesn't work, you replace it or take it apart yourself and find out why. there is no service manual for them though.

sure the motors not spinning cause the laser is dead? Most drives shine the laser to determine if a disc is in the drive, then start spinning when it determines it. Dead laser means no spinny spin.

Then it could be a whole host of things. From something as simple as the dvd drive simply being slightly disconnected, to...who knows what.
