Laptop fan issue (not working)

Hey, hoping I can get some general advice. For the past few months (I know, I am slow at fixing things -- was worried about the price) I believe my laptop fan has not been working. I downloaded and installed Speedfan, which does not detect any fan on my laptop. All four of my cores run at 60 C or so when I am just browsing the internet, but jump to 88 C when I try to do any gaming. The computer has shut off multiple times (but not for the last few weeks as I have been careful and close everything once the cores pass 85 C).

I bought a USB powered fan to place the laptop on, but that has not fixed the issue.

So I have two questions:

1) Is it feasible to repair it myself, or should I bring it to a professional? I have some computer hardware experience (I built my custom PC) and have access to youtube/etc.

2) any recommendations on where to actually buy the fan for a fair price? I am in Canada if that matters.

The laptop model is Acer Aspire V3-571.

Thanks for your help in advance!

well speedfan is an awful program and please dont use it on your laptop, not even in your desktop. now to answer your question:
it really depends on how comfortable are you opening your laptop and poking things in there (keep in mind a laptop is different from your desktop). btw there is also the issue of finding a replace for your fan. it is a little hard to find a replace because of the factor (the shape of the fan, the watt/volts need and the plug)
