Looking to buy a laptop for my daughter for her birthday – will be mostly used for school and watching movies. Have seen a few options would love opinions or suggestions. Budget is $600 or less. Not fussed on screen size, lighter the better for her.

To me #2 seems to be the best buy. However, in general I think you could find better deals elsewhere that have much better processors for the same price. They all seem overpriced to me.

Amazon and Newegg. Those sites you linked to above, while they do seem very budgety don't have very good deals. I'll look for an ideal laptop for her and post here when I find one.

For instance, this is almost equivilant to the first laptop you linked above for $500: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-15-6-Inch-Celeron-Laptop-VERSION/dp/B00L49X8E6/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1425864600&sr=1-1&keywords=laptop

That ^^ is actually a fantastic deal, though way below your budget.

Okay here are some results of my searching.

Dell Inspiron 11 3000: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-11-6-Inch-Convertible-Touchscreen-i3148-8840sLV/dp/B00RH6QZWM/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1425864685&sr=1-2&keywords=laptop

It has a slick look to it and will be a nice lightweight laptop for your daughter. It should be sufficient for her usages and seems like a good buy, again better than the ones you posted originally all around.

HP Pavilion 17-e019dx: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-17-e019dx-i3-4000M-Processor/dp/B00GYM8WYO/ref=sr_1_21?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1425864835&sr=1-21&keywords=laptop

This laptop is larger and heavier as a downside, but has a higher resolution display, a better processor, and overall better performance/value but only by a small margin compared to the above Dell. Size is the only issue with this one.

I think the first Dell is the best one. I realize that it has 2 stars on amazon though so you might want to research it a bit more. That 2 stars is out of 4 reviewers and it is likely that people only review if something wrong happens. I have seen Dell Inspirons before of family members of mine and it works well.

I wouldn't stop searching here though, check Best Buy, Newegg, Walmart.
