Hi guys, I'm currently looking for a laptop that is under 800$ or so, just for my starting really frustrating college life, I'm looking for something portable, like an ultrabook, I really don't need any laptop with a discrete videocard, cause I'm forbidden to play games, so watching HD movies is enough for me.

For example I found this : http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=7689043&pid=1218858193066&ep=pv-2.2.8,rc-av,av-0,rk-2, on the internet and the crappy thing is that we don't have best buy here, so please help.
No gaming,
some converting of videos,
overnight downloading,
watching hd videos,
reading a lot of pdf's,
and some basic for CAD, I'm taking engineering but the higher years tell me that we won't use AutoCad, so, the discrete graphics card not needed.
and that's about it. Thank you

Get a Lenovo Thinkpad. you will never regret it.

and make sure that ANY Laptop you buy has IPS LCD , it is a MUST. and you wont regret it.

When are you buying the Notebook? Lenovo announced the new Haswell Thinkpad with IPS montiors they will arrive soon.

Also what screen size ? 11?12?13?14?15?

Lenovo Thinkpad notebooks are the best around. "Thinkpad" only models , not all Lenovo.

they did not release yet the Haswell Intel notebook , they are coming this month.

so keep an eye on them.

and what ever you choose , be sure you pick an IPS LCD as well. insist on that.

this one

http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/09/lenovos-t440s-thinkpad-coming-soon/

for 12 inch , haswell is not here yet , but will come soon as well

here is the ivybridge one available today

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/x230/

the HAswell will come soon as well.

all Haswell CPU names will be like this 4xxx

The Link does not work.

And I don't recommend the T430 at all , no IPS screen ...

no , IPS means "In-plane switching" and it is the best LCD Panel for 2 reasons ,

one , it has 178/178/178/178 Viewing angles .

two , it has The best colors as well.

Most notebook monitors are TN panels. and they suck

here is an example to show you the difference :

Here is an IPS Notebook monior

and here is a normal TN Monitor

csm_LCD_17_e391a5c238.jpg

as you see if you tilt the notebook screen just little or left and right , the colors and detail will disappear

IPS is a must. but most people dont notice that.

Haswell gives 50% more battery life more than Ivy bridge. and it hs faster Graphics double the speed as well.

so if the old notebook works 4 hours , the Haswell will work for 6 Hours on the same battery. this is VERY important in a notebook.

if you can wait , wait. it is better. the Lenovo Thinkpad T440s is interesting.

If you cant wait , I will look for best thing available today.
