Laptop for HD capable video editing

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so hello.
I'm looking for a laptop for my stepdaughter who starts college soon. One of her subjects is Media and she will have to do video editing. I'm looking at two laptops at the moment for < £500

ASUS

Now the Asus is an i7 but with only integrated graphics where as the Lenovo is an i5 with dedicated Radeon R7 graphics.

Which would be best for the job or does anyone have any other suggestions of a good laptop for around £500?

Hello, I would recommend stepping up to an HQ variant of either the i5 or i7 as those are both dual core models that will unfortunately perform poorly for video editing. Here are some models I have found that I might recommend that will perform much better due to have more cache and true four cores:

If you can find one within your price range, I would suggest a model with an i7 and an HQ designation following the number, for example i7 47XXHQ, i7 57XXHQ, i7 67XXHQ. Though the ones I posted are pretty god deals for what you get, and you may not be able to do better without going used/refurbished. Good luck, and let us know if you have any other questions.
