Solved! laptop mic doesnt pick up any sort of sound

So recently i added a few friends on discord so we can game, but i realized that they can't hear me, at first i thought it was a problem with discord because ive never used voice chat with it, then i tried skype, then i updated my drivers, still nothing, although i am thinking it may be from my drivers? i have windows 8.1 and i installed a windows 10 drivers for my laptop because only windows 10 drivers were available on acers website for my laptop, then i went to audio settings and microphone, something is wrong, it doesnt pick up ANY sound, plus my "stereo mix" in recording devices was disabled but even after i enable it and set it as default it doesnt help, it shows that it picks up laptop sound or maybe sound overall but i cant get to use my mic, help?

If your microphone isn't working, try the following...

1. Go to "Control Panel".
2. Click on "Sound".
3. Click the "Recording" tab.
4. Click on the device you are trying to fix.
5. Now click the "Configure" button and then click "Set up Microphone".
6. Once that is complete, click the "Properties" button.
7. When you are done with your changes, in "Properties", click "Apply" and then "OK".
8. Then click "OK", again, on the main "Sound window".

Now, if that microphone is part of a headset, then the problem may be the jack. It may not accept input/output or be input only. In this case you may need to get a 3.5mm to USB adapter to make it work... something like this... https/www.amazon.com/LZYCO-External-connector-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B018YV3ALM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1486193340&sr=8-9&keywords=3.5mm+to+usb+adapter

NOTE: This is for an external microphone, not referring to internal/built-in one.

I tried but it gave me some kind of error, the mic im trying to use is my laptops mic
The Wizard could not start
Make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound themes control panel.
