Laptop optical drive Issue

Hi. I seem to be having an issue with my laptop's optical drive. I'm trying to install windows 7 from a DVD but its not showing. I have tried and change my boot priority but still doesn't work. However if I insert a CD it work just fine.
Anyone knows a solution?

either the disc is bad even though ti may look fine or the dvd reading part of the laser is going flakey. grab a windows iso from digital river, get a usb key, use the windows usb tool to install the iso to a usb key and install it from usb.
