I'm looking for a laptop with these specs:
17.3" (or 17")
1920x1080 res (or 1920x1200)
i5-4th gen
SSD
Good support/warranty (available help and fast response)
Win 7 Pro 64 preferred, not essential

I'm having a hard time finding all these together in one box without going to gaming machines. The planned use is mostly small custom application development and the usual, basic business uses.

Thanks for your help!

You can get the shop to fit the ssd. They'd then have to put Windows on it.

I prefer Asus, MSI then Lenovo. The Lenovo isn't as much mainstream gaming. Whatever you do, don't get HP or Dell - we get a lot of problems with them here.

Lenovo - I'd recommend their 510 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313740

It has a 'SSHD' - a hard drive with a mini ssd built in to help speed it up. It's only 15inch but 1080p, $970

MSI - GE70 - http://www.microcenter.com/product/431122/GE70_Apache_Pro-012_173_Laptop_Computer_-_Brush_Aluminum_Black
no ssd, but 17in and better memory and graphics and keyboard, $1300

Over $1,000 is okay. It's more that I don't want to throw money away, like with gaming capabilities I'll never use. Also, I wouldn't want a gaming station look. But, yes, i7 if that's what it takes.

Yes, I've considered swapping in an SSD, but I think in most cases, that would void any warranty.

I want to make sure that if there's an issue with the laptop, I can get it fixed quickly, probably on-site, no mailing out and and back. (When my screen started to go, Dell had someone out to replace it, I think the next day,)

That was really helpful thanks. There's an MSI that I was looking at online, unboxed. I didn't know the company and, of course, found mixed reviews. But, I may go with that. It's all set up. Meanwhile, I'll follow up on your other links. Many thanks!
