Laptop Restarts After Entering Sleep Mode

Hi all, I recently acquired an HP Spectre x360 laptop with Windows 10 and it's been working fine until a few weeks ago.

When I close the lid and leave the laptop in sleep mode for more than an hour, I open it to find that I have to press the power button (probably because it's gone into hibernation mode) but instead of booting up it restarts completely, every time rebooting with the F11 recovery system. The blue screen menu comes up and I have tried using the setting to troubleshoot the issue, but nothing happens.

I've been unable to figure out what's causing this problem and how to get rid of it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Please do try these troubleshooting steps:
- Right click on the small Battery Changing icon on the bottom right hand corner and select Power Options
- Click on Change plan Settings next to what power plan is selected.
- Click on Change advanced power settings
- Expand Sleep and make sure to set Allow hybrid sleep and Hibernate after to Never or 0
- Expand Hard Disk and set Turn off hard disk after to Never or 0
- Click Apply then OK

First I need to apologize for accidentally clicking the downvote button for Laptop_Nerd's response. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to press it!

However, the solution seemed to have worked for a couple hours but suddenly my laptop wouldn't wake up (the keyboard was lit but the screen stayed blank) and I had to power cycle it and was then greeted with a menu that looked like this when I didn't ask for it:

So I'm not sure anymore if it's still the sleep/hibernation mode or maybe something else on the actual laptop.

But thanks for the advice and again I am so sorry for pressing that down button!! O_O

Heres a fix for my windows 7 HP laptop
I managed to get my old G6-1c43nr running smoothly on Windows 10 using this meathod! (Please note that not all G6's can use this meathod and you should proceed at your own discression!)



Steps to fix this error:



1. Download BIOS revision F.46 (You most likely have F.48 or F.49) if it is available for your laptop (Go to the Windows 7 Drivers section>BIOS>Previous Versions).



2. Install the older BIOS



3.After installing the older BIOS, your laptop most likely will not boot fully, it should give a BSOD and restart, let it do this twice and the third time it should attempt to perform a startup repair THIS WILL (AND SHOULD) FAIL!



4. After startup repair fails, click on "Advanced Options"



5. Click Troubleshoot>Advanced options>Start-up settings



6. Click restart



7. When you see the start-up settings screen, press "4" on your keyboard



8. You will then boot into safe mode, do not log into your computer when presented with the login screen, just press Power>Restart



9. You should be able to fully boot into Windows now



10. Put the computer to sleep and wake it, it should now fully work!



The issue was that the newer BIOS breaks the way Windows 8/10 read the SATA configuration and downgrading the BIOS fixes it.

Hi my laptop is HP g6-1d46dx . I had the same problem with sleep and hibernate mode. I fixed my laptop by doing "dc0331" steps. It worked for me. Thank you dc0331

I have a Dell Latitude that recently started doing the same thing, except it waits to shut down until about 5 minutes after bringing it out of hibernation. I changed my settings to what you recommended and praying it fixes mine too. Thank you!

You need to open CMD (Command Prompt) with Administrator Rights. Click on the Window logo, search "CMD". When you see it, right-click and "Run as Administrator"
