Laptop screen only works in tv

Hello,

i recently plugged my sony vaio laptop into my tv via a hdmi lead so i could watch a film. Since then the screen on my laptop is blank when its turned on, however when i plug the hdmi lead in to link it to the tv i can see what should be on the laptop screen.

any ideas?
