My Sony VAIO VGN-CS17G came across this problem a few days ago when I was playing GTA San Andreas. It suddenly got shut off, no bsod or anything, and then restarted on its own. After this, the problem persisted and now the pc reboots even when I open a 720p video... I am pretty sure it's a GPU issue as the problem seems to cease when I uninstall the graphics card. It is definately not an overheating issue as the cpu temps reach a maximum of 50° while the GPU temps reach 55° or lower(these temps are recorded right before the reboot). It's also not a RAM issue as I have run memtest86 and the ram seems to be fine. I have vacuumed the laptop for any dust but the issue still didn't resolve. It also restarts when I try to run the windows experience index assessment.

RAM: 3 GB
HDD : 250 GB
