I have a very Thinkpad t61 from 2007. It's been extremely reliable and fast until one day; I was using it to do some research on the internet then it suddenly gave me a black screen. Because my research was due the day right after, I didn't try to fix my computer. Instead, I just carried on my research on my iPad. The next day, I attempted to power up my computer, and it successfully powered up, the processes were running as normal, but I couldn't see a current screen, it was just dark. I connected my laptop to a monitor and could see a screen. I noticed that my laptop suffered a severe performance drop. It was five times slower. Even youtube videos where choppy. After severals attempts to revive my computer, I ended up giving up. A month later I tried to boot up my laptop again and it self repaired itself. It could now display images on the laptop screen, but it was still very very slow.
