Laptop Temp 70-90 degrees idle

I have a HP Pavilion Power 15t with and i5 7300HQ and the CPU temp spikes up to 90 degrees sometimes when its idle. But i usually stays around the 70s. But when I play video games, it stays at like 90 degrees. This is also a brand new laptop that I got a couple of days ago. Is the cpu or fan defective or is it just the product?

If you just got it I would seriously consider returning it. Those are high temps for such a new device.

I was thinking about returning it. I don't know if it is just an HP product or if it was faulty laptop. Thanks though!
