Laptop to 144Hz Monitor?

Alright I'll go straight to the point.

If my gaming laptop comes with 2 mini displayport 1.3, will I be able to connect a cable from the mini displayport 1.3 on my laptop to the displayport on my 144hz monitor and play on 144hz? My concern is that the displayport on the monitor just says displayport and doesn't specify if it's 1.3 or etc. So is it compatible with my mini displayport 1.3?

The connection certainly supports it, but does your laptop? The laptop may not be able to output 144hz.

yes I would think so most displayport cables come come with mini displayport my GPU is mini and screen is big normal port

How do I know if it is able to output 144hz? It's packing a 1060 if that helps.

I am using my ASUS VG248QE with my Lenovo Y510P. I didn't get 1080p 144hz but could only get 720p 120hz. As my laptop doesn't have DVI-D or DP, I am using HDMI to DVI-D converter that I bought on Ebay for 3 dollars. Now this laptop is nearly 3 years old so there might be a way to get 1080p 144hz on yours. Check if any of the cables are able to transfer the amount of bandwidth necessary for 120/144hz and if so then you can make a custom resolution with ToastyX CRU, Intel HD's CustomModeApp or NVIDIA Control panel.

Some of this might be wrong for you but that's how I got my monitor to run 120hz with my laptop.
