Laptop turning off when lid is closed. Help?

Whenever I close the lid on my laptop, it turns off. I have it set so it should go to sleep, but it completely boots off. Do you have any advice?

search power options in your start menu.
change plan settings. (on whatever one you are using)
restore default settings for this plan.
