I've been attempting to connect my Acer Aspire V3- 772G laptop to my TV via HDMI cable however the TV just shows no signal. I've tried the HDMI cable with another laptop and that connected so it's not an issue with the cable. I've recently done the 8.1 windows update and am wondering if there are any settings that need changing to make my laptop able to project to the TV?

I'm unable to find any output option? sorry I'm not very techy I may be in the wrong place, I right clicked on my desktop and picked Graphics Properties, it comes up with the option of display, 3D, options and support, video, power or profiles. i had a quick look at them but don't see an output option anywhere

It's a Samsung, sorry that's all i know about it

edit: It's worked not sure what I did I was playing with the graphic property: display settings and something made it work. Thank you for your help

hi there, had a similar problem with my HP laptop running window 8.1, if you open your Desktop and drag your cursor all the way to the right till the settings menu appears. Click on Devices, got to project and click, it then brings up Connect second screen. click on that and you get a choice of options! My only problem with this was that it would not let me display on the Duplicate setting, the others work fine tho!

Hope this Helps!

Go to control panel, type HDMI into the search, click display. On the left hand side you will see different options, click pproject to a second screen. And then choose how you want to connect you laptop.

im having pretty much the same problem my external screen loads then go to blue screen. my laptop screen is broken so need to use it on tv. it only loads up on safe mode with connection. it did work ok but i think i changed something in the settings without releasing any suggestions on how this could be fixed without my laptop screen please

I had the same problem, but this worked perfect for me i have a mac and a jvc tv and i went to system preferences > sound > output > and then selected the hdmi option and the sound worked perfectly!

I have been using an HMDI to thunderbolt lead to connect my macbook pro to my JVC tv for the past few months with no issues... until now. The TV seems to have stopped recognising the laptop & says 'no signal' when I connect it now. Is it just the wire or do I need to change some settings?!
