Alright, so a freind of mine is wanting a good laptop for everyday use, she's a teacher so she'd be using it for school work aswell, she doesn't want to spend more than 500$, her price range would be around 300-400$ can i get some help? Windows 8, would like to have the number keypad.

There are a lot of options- I recommend that you look at the Microsoft store. They have decent prices and sell laptops that are not loaded with junk software.

I would also suggest getting a laptop with an SSD. Those are much less likely to die in laptops that get carried around and will be much faster.

First as she is on a small budget, she is not going to get a good screen. This was the highest res I could find that was under $400. $500 would have got her full hd. But as she is likely to be in class where there is a plug point, battery life shouldn't matter. Also the screen is most likely going to be plugged into a projector which makes the quality irrelevant.

Finally the price is high as it is an asus laptop. They price their laptops slightly higher but you do get good build quality and they are reliable as I have one and it still works after 2 years. Only the battery is starting to go but that is not much of an issue as I am pretty much plugged in 24hrs a day. Also it didn't have good battery life when it was new so that was never my worry in the first place.
