even an acer P195HQ has a contrast ratio of 50000:1

To answer your question, most Insignia's are re-badged LG's, whereas the Proscan are no-name Chinese. If you buy your Proscan at Costco, at least they can back you up.

Have to watch them and make a subjective comparison. From a servicer standpoint, at least you can get an Insignia fixed if it fails.
