Legit PayPal site or phishing

Hello there,

I want to buy something from a site I don't trust entirely (because I never have bought anyhting from them):

When I chose to buy something, it sends me to a paypal payment site (the one where you enter your account data).

The security certificate looks like this:

What I'm afraid of is, that I'm being send to a "paypal-lookalike" phishing site that only wants to sniff out my paypal account/password. I tried entering some made up info, because a phishing site should accept all entered info, I suppose and it gave my an error.

I'm not really afraid of losing the 10-20 USD I plan to spend if it turns out that I don't receice anything, but only that they will know my paypal data.

My question would be, is that a legit paypal site or not.

I would call that a scam.

The url and certificate look legitimate. If you're really worried you can log in at paypal.com and then click the pay with PayPal link. If it's the real PayPal site it will use the token generated when you logged in and not ask for your login details.
