Hi,
I've been using a desktop mostly but recently bought a Lenovo laptop for school. I noticed that it seem to lag quite often (even when browsing) and runs noticeably slower than my two-year-old desktop

Laptop:
I5-4200U CPU
8GB ram
500GB HDD
running Windows 8.1

Desktop:
Intel i5-3450
RAM: 8GB
SSD: Intel 520 120GB
running Windows 7

I am wonder if this is normal? or is there something wrong with my laptop!

Of course it's normal. Your desktop has an SSD in it, along with a full-power, quad core CPU.

The laptop has a platter hard drive running at (I'm presuming) 5800 RPM, and a mobile, underpowered dual core CPU.

1. The 4200U CPU is slower than the 3450 CPU.
2. Your desktop has an SSD (big difference there over the HDD in the laptop)

As long as your laptop is not suffering any overheating, I gather this is normal considering the hardware in the laptop is inferior to the desktop's hardware.
