Question Lenovo laptop won't turn on unless adapter is connected.

My Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3 15arh7 has a weird problem with battery. It suddenly shuts down even when battery is at 100% and when I try to turn it back on the power button just lights up for 2secs and shuts off. It will turn on only if adapter is connected. when I connect the adapter, it turns on with 100% charge sometimes in which case it lasts for 5mins max if I remove the charger. or it turns on with 0% charge and wont charge. either way the laptop only works with adapter connected. the hard reset (holding power button for few secs) used to work but the problem just shows up again after 2-3 days. I've tried removing the battery updating the drivers, but it doesn't seem to work. Is the issue related to motherboard?
