Lenovo Sent Wrong Recovery Discs and Need to Reinstall Windows 8

Hello, I am needing to reinstall windows 8 Pro on a Lenovo Think Pad. I called and they sent me some recovery discs but it is for Windows 7 Pro not Windows 8. I emailed them about the mistake in recovery discs and received a email saying the laptop is out of warranty. I restored the laptop using the windows 7 recovery discs to get it operational but still want to get it back to windows 8. Is it possible use magic jelly bean to get the cd key off the laptop and download a fresh iso from microsoft?

It is as long as you have not entered any other licence key, or wiped the windows 8 install on the laptop.
But if you look on the underside of the laptop, or if the laptop has a Dvd drive the licence key sticker for windows 8 may of been placed or stuck in one of the locations mentioned.

A Lenovo with Win 8 I would be very surprised if the key is not embedded in the bios with no sticker on the laptop. The win 7 and 8 ISOs you get from Microsoft will only work for retail keys, so even of you do pull the key from bios you wont be able to download from Microsoft. You can find cheap OEM media on Ebay.

Yea lets ignore windows 7 for the moment. Did your laptop come with windows 8? Is there a sticker on the laptop for a windows 8 license? If so, simply download the iso from microsoft, copy it to a usb boot stick, and install it. The license will be in your BIOS and pulled automatically. Make sure you install the right version of windows that your license is for.

If it came with widows 7 by default and you bought the laptop used with windows 8 installed, you will need to purchase windows 8 to get your own key as it is gone.
