Lenovo T500 Fn buttons not working and weird issue with blank screen on startup

Hi again, after my tos satellite decided not to turn on anymore (http/www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2016331/toshiba-satellite-turns-secs.html#12642057) I borrowed an old-ish Lenovo T500 with no OS and non functional CD drive.
I installed win 7 64bit through a usb stick, installed all the drivers etc and now I sere that not all Fn combinations are functional. for example I cannot modify the brightness but I can put the laptop to sleep by using Fn+F4, which connects to my next issue:
When the laptop starts and after the windows is starting up screen, my screen gets blank, and in order to turn it back on I have to use the above combinaton to put the laptop to sleep and then turn it on again.

Any ideas how to fix these issues?

Fixed the blank screen (graphics driver from ATI was not sufficient, needed also the one from win update)

Still need some help with the Fn buttons
