TB3-710F, running Android 5.0.1. Wifi modem Telstra 3g/4g internet. My test is the Oz Broadband Speed Test, 600 KB download. I also have a Net Monitor app that confirms the sort of speeds I am experiencing.

I am not sure if it has always been this bad, but my tablet is between twice and three times as slow as my phone and other wifi'd devices in the home. We get varying and sometimes poor speeds where we are, but my phone and others can get as high as 1.3 MBps on a good day if they are the only device dragging at the net.

I have tried moving closer to the router, and while this speeds up both my phone and the tablet, there is still a huge discrepancy in speeds. I have tried being near the router and putting my phone into Aeroplane Mode, in case there is some sort of interference, but that made little or no different.

I have also rebooted the Lenovo and the router.

Right now we are getting about 300-450 MBPs. I actually ran the speed test on both my tabet and the phone and the tablet simultaneously. The phone got 287 MBps while the tablet got about 118 MBps.

Anyone any ideas, please?

Thanks for any help.

It may not be the tablet itself so much as what all is running on it. If there is anything on the tablet that is running in the background and using up your access, that will slow you down. Also, if your browser history, cache, etc., hasn't been clean out in a while (if ever) then that will slow it down as well.

Try uninstalling apps you don't use and turning off apps when not used. Just closing them doesn't always mean they are 'off', and clear out the browser. If this doesn't speed up the devices connection, try restarting the tablet in "Safe Mode" and see if you get better speed. If you do, then there is something(s) running on the tablet that you missed that is hogging it.

To get into "Safe Mode" please do the following.

1. First turn off the tablet.

2. Next press and hold "Power" until you see the manufacturers logo on the screen, then release the power button.

3. "Quickly" press "Volume Down" and hold it for few seconds until you see the message "Safe mode: ON" or something similar.

4. If you wanted disable it, simply repeat the steps above, and you should see "Safe Mode: OFF" rather than on.

Hi and thanks. You may well be right about an app hogging stuff. This morning everything is fine again! To my knowledge I have made no changes at all....

So the good is that it's fine, but the bad is I will not know what or why.

If it happens again I will certainly try as you suggest.

There is one problem about the idea of hogging. As I said I have a net monitor app and it shows all network activity. It is not showing any activity that I can't explain.
