Lenovo Y500 sound of sparking inside

My Lenovo Y500 laptop is less than 6 months old. After it remained idle for 1 month when I powered the laptop there was initial flickering. Soon after I hear a loud noise of spark from within and the screen became blank. The laptop stopped working. I had to press the start button to power off the laptop. Thereafter, the laptop starts when the power button is pressed but after a while I hear a loud sound of spark and the laptop stops working. Please help.

If your laptop is within 6 months of purchase, back up your important files and just have it repaired under warranty.

Yes. Do that immediately. Then contact Lenovo customer support for permission to send in the laptop to get it serviced under warranty. In general it can take as long as 3 - 6 weeks to receive back your laptop.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I shall contact Lenovo & seek their help under Warranty but is there anything I can try to solve the sparking problem ?

That is likely an insulation issue with the motherboard. Unless you are a good electronics technician I would just let the pros handle it. Besides, whatever you do may void your warranty.
